Arizona Wineries

This past weekend I had one of those rare days, you know the ones, where you can take some personal time off. We decided to spend it with friends exploring a little piece of Northern Arizona. Jerome and a few wineries in between to be exact! My blog article this week will focus on three amazing Arizona wineries, that although well known, I still feel do not get the attention they deserve.
Where are these wineries you ask? Surprisingly close to Phoenix! The fact that they are so close to home is not something I expected, but was thrilled to have found these gems, more so that it was by accident. It was our second wedding anniversary we were a bit short on money, and figured we’d to stay home and maybe take a quick day trip up north. We decided on Prescott (future article to come). On the drive up we had time to spare and were in such a happy mood that we veered off and took a random road; I mean why not?! On the road we kept passing sign postings for wineries. Our curiosity kicked in, and we made our first stop at Javalina then Page Springs. I still remember the feeling of making such a huge discovery! This was back in 2012 and ever since we’ve made this drive easily two-three times a year.
Directions: If you're driving from Phoenix you’ll take the I-17 North then get off the interstate at Exit 293 and keep left to Cornville Rd. That will take you into the town of Cornville, and more importantly to where these wineries are located! As you approach the town you’ll make a right turn on Page Springs Rd toward 89A. All the wineries will be on this road. It is an absolutely mesmerizing drive! Oh and in the spring when all the trees are green and the leaves provide a natural shade covering the road.. for a moment you forget you're in Arizona and feel transported to Northern California.
Winery # 1
Page Springs Cellars 1500 N Page Springs Rd Cornville, AZ 86325
By far my favorite, which is why it is first on the list! Mouth-watering food, delicious wine, and a gorgeous patio overlooking the river? Yes, please! They also offer inside seating. It is dim, cozy and very comfortable. If you’d rather bring your own food that is okay too! As long as you drink their wine... A tasting is $10 a person and you keep the wine glass as a souvenir, you can also buy a wine glass, or bottle of your own choice! I love their tasting room! It is full of art from local artists (great souvenirs to take home and show family and friends). If you can only visit one winery this is the one, it’s always my favorite! You wont regret it!
Winery # 2
Oak Creek Vineyard and Winery 1555 N Page Springs Rd Cornville, AZ 86325
Next stop, Oak Creek. When you are ready to leave Page Springs Cellars make a left turn and about a 3 minute drive later you’ll come across the Oak Creek Vineyard to your
right. A charming tasting room and smaller patio. We did not have food here so I don’t know if they allow food from outside, but their wine is delightful! Price: $12 for 5 tastings.
Winery # 3
Javalina Leap Vineyard 1565 N Page Springs Rd Cornville,AZ 86325
Javalina Leap Vineyard is right next to Oak Creek, like within walking distance, or you can also move the car. What I love the most about this winery is their picnic area; located in a very green, very peaceful area. The actual wine area is on the smaller side but the wine alone is worth the visit. The Chardonnay is my personal favorite. Price: $10 for 4 tastings.
The best part about these wineries is that they are right in between Sedona and Jerome! We love taking our own food, tasting the wine, and after enjoying the scenery, either keep driving north to Sedona or south to Jerome. No matter which way you decide to go Arizona will never disappoint. Wine tasting, old mining towns, western shops, savory barbecue restaurants, and beautiful red rock landscape. What a great way to spend your day!
